Community Water Alliance in partnership with Combined Harare Residents Association hosted a meeting with five Parliamentary Portfolio Committees to discuss review of water laws in line with Section 77 (a) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
It was a deliberate move to hold the meeting a day before World Water Day commemorated on 22 March. The meeting ran under the theme Human Right to Water: Leaving No One Behind. The theme recognizes both the Zimbabwean Constitutional provision guaranteeing everyone the right to safe and clean water as well as the 2019 World Water Day theme Leaving no one behind.
Community Water Alliance tabled its legal, policy and regulations analysis paper on water laws for discussion and interrogation.
Those interested in the legal analysis paper and those who want to give feedback should visit Community Water Alliance Facebook page.
Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement; Local Government; Budget, Finance and Economic Development; Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry as well as Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs were the Parliamentary Portfolio Committees invited to the meeting on 21 March.
