NANGO is partnering with Southern African Parliamentary Support Trust (SAPST), Sam Moyo African Institute of Agrarian Studies (SMAIAS), Zimbabwe AIDS Network (ZAN) and Zimbabwe Community Health Intervention Research (ZiCHIRe) in monitoring the implementation of the National Indicative Programme (NIP) which is running from 2018 up to 2022. The CSNIP has the potential to contribute significantly to poverty reduction, good governance, democracy and overall development in Zimbabwe. It was a programme agreed upon between the European Union (EU) and the government of Zimbabwe after an extensive consultation process. The government-implemented NIP has three focal sectors which are health, agriculture-based economic development, AND governance and institution building. The three sectors were identified through the Country Strategy Paper 2014-2014 which was agreed upon by the EU Delegation National Authorising Officer.

The project has yielded the following results:

  • Establishment and use of the CSO Monitoring and Advocacy Framework for evidence-based lobby for public finance management reforms;
  • Enhanced capacity of 75 Civil Society Organisations across Zimbabwe to collect data, track results and report using standardised tools and models;
  • Annual publication of the State of Transparency and Accountability Barometer (STAB) which stimulated debate, foster public accountability and improvement of service delivery
  • Changes in the Public Finance Management Act and national budget framework informed by evidence-based lobbying.
  • Created platforms for CSOs at various levels to hold central and local government accountable and transparent in the implementation of the EU supported National Indicative Program under the 11th European Development Fund;
  • Institutional strengthening and capacity enhancement of 75 CSOs in Public Policy Analysis and Advocacy, Social Accountability, Results Based Management, State Party Reporting and Monitoring and Evaluation.
